Megathread adds new relevance to people’s interests and information

The goal of Megathread™ is to create a society based on the value of people and information.

Megathread’s proprietary software integrates with online discussions, forums, social networks, blogs and content publishing platforms to identify people, discussions and communities with the most credible information and relevant interests.

Megathread™ is the only application that recognizes authenticity and credibility, determines the value of people and information, while providing an integrative platform to create meaningful and trusting relationships.

Megathread recently won the Software Product of the Year Award and was one of the featured exhibitors at the DaVinci Inventor Showcase which took place on Oct 13, 2012 at the Denver Merchandise Mart. A full list of award winners can be found HERE.

Megathread company founder and president Brian Assam took a moment to answer some questions about Internet’s potential to build greater social integration, “Social Synthesis” and about building a global medium for spreading innovation, novelty, and meaningful information…

1. What was the defining moment that led you to create this product? What problem does it solve?

In 1999 I had a life changing experience that led me to realize the Internet’s potential to build greater social integration. Through the global exchange of knowledge and information, the Internet has the potential to address the myriad of challenges we face as a species. This realization altered my life completely and over the next decade I spent every moment searching for the answers to reach this potential. I drafted a theory called “Social Synthesis,” but when it received minimal response I began working on the tool that would prove the theory. The final product — as a result of 13 years of insight, research, and discovery — is now Megathread.

Megathread solves a fundamental challenge of society by addressing the Internets current inability to become a fully integrative social environment. First of all, the different social structures that make up society (i.e. education, science, technology, business, politics, etc.) have never been fully interconnected. And while it’s the goal of the Internet to interconnect people and information at every level, it still lacks an authentic standard for recognizing the quality of information and the authenticity of people.

Even amidst the Internets exponential growth, we are still a fragmented society in need of greater solutions to problems that exist throughout every aspect of society. Megathread’s decentralized approach builds a global medium for spreading innovation, novelty, and meaningful information. Our patent-pending technology optimizes the benefits of the Internet by recognizing the value and needs of people and communities across all online community platforms.

Megathread also solves the problem of Internet privacy, which is the result of online advertisings need for personal information. By authentically recognizing people and communities without any need to distribute, manufacture, or abuse personal or proprietary information, Megathread can offer a revolutionary advertising model that caters specifically to people’s interests, fuels novelty, exposing niches, and spreads ad-revenue to supporting communities.

2. After you came up with the idea, how did you size up the market and decide who your customers would be?

In sizing up this market I knew I had to focus on the communities that would accept this technology the most and/or provide the most obvious benefits. Since Megathread can be applied to any blog, community forum, or social network, its scope includes the thousands of growing online communities.

For example, online communities in sports and recreation would love the statistical analysis of Megathread, while online education would show the exponential benefits Megathread can provide students, curriculum and educators. These are two specific markets we will be targeting first, but our options are limitless.

3. How did you go about naming your product?

The name was created through a roller coaster ride of about 20 different names, brands, and elevator pitches. I had other names I liked that had to drop for legal purposes or because they didn’t convey the meaning of the technology. Eventually “Megathread” became the choice because:
1) The name ‘ties’ it all together
2) The .com was available with no other similar trademarks

Megathread is simple and to the point of “tying it all together,” which is essential when branding a product with such a broad audience.

4. How long did it take you to create your initial prototype, and what problems did you run into along the way?

I began the development of the technology about a year ago and I’d say that right now we are at the beta stage of production.

I’ve run into plenty of challenges, the greatest of which has come with relying on 3rd-party developers around the greater Denver and Boulder area. The issue was, primarily, that there is way too much demand for the developers and the quality of the product doesn’t meet the overinflated prices. Because of this issue, I had to seek over-sea developers and found a plethora of available, highly qualified, sources at a fraction of the price. I have found this resource to be more reliable, dependable, and available overall.

5. Funding a new idea is always tricky. How did you go about lining up the money you needed?

I have been extremely fortunate to finance the majority of Megathread on my own and with the help of my family.

6. Is this a product you’d like to produce and sell yourself, or are you wanting to license it to someone else? And if so, who?

I think there is too much passion involved to ever let Megathread go completely; plus the vision is so unique and the principles must be maintained. It’s not about the monetary value for me but rather the value it holds for society. It is, in a very deep way, my life purpose, so I don’t think I could ever sell it to anyone for any price, but the majority of licensing is free so it is available to the world.

7. What channels are you using to market your product?

The initial marketing of this technology will be a great challenge. Working directly with blogging communities, forums, and other platforms is essential. The exposure from the Inventors Showcase could be huge, while providing a seamless and easy to use tool is essential.

8. How many people do you currently have involved in your business?

I recently found a really good developer in Pakistan; I love the guy and, ironically, his last name is Aslam (mine is Assam) so how cool is that! My close friend, Casey Jones, acts a business/sales consultant and I recently hired the services of Jayson Cote, a strategist and marketing consultant, who will be assisting me at the showcase.

The last 10 years have been a monumental struggle trying to reach people. Thus, gaining resonance has been the most difficult part of the process. I can now say that I know the feeling of an inventor being turned down by practically everyone; however, these experiences have only fueled the fire to succeed even more.

9. How do you define success? What would hitting a “home run” look like in your mind?

A home run would be nothing less than Megathread reaching its goal of building a society based upon the value of people and information. This includes becoming the Internet standard for building authentic social credentials, spreading global social integration, addressing the challenges of Internet privacy and sharing billions of dollars in ad-revenue to supporting communities, schools, NPO’s and other institutions.

10. Where do people go to find out more about your product?

You can learn more about Megathread on our website (www.megathread.com) which provides all the information one would need to include a demo WordPress site of how it works. Or you can contact myself, Brian Assam, at 303-709-4217.
