The full results of the 1940 census was released online today by the National Archives, and the Census put together some intriguing full-page graphics to illustrate how the country has changed over the past 70 years.
Two visuals jumped out at us as intriguing: Above, the image shows the huge increase in the percentage of the population that has a college degree and the graphic shows the way the workforce has transformed since 1940. The manufacturing and agriculture sectors shrank as education and health services grew. The graphic below shows how the average American home has changed since 1940.
